Narrative:

Inbound to oak, the #2 aft fuel boost pump light came on indicating a failure. We landed and tagged the pump switch. We called oak operations to call dispatch with a 28-1 MEL and to get maintenance to come to the cockpit to give us a tracking number for air carrier company regulations. Upon maintenance arrival they verified the problem pump inoperative and stickered the switch and collared the circuit breaker. Maintenance entered the tracking number in the aircraft log and the captain wrote it on the dispatch release. After takeoff air carrier dispatch called on company radio and told us to return as we needed more fuel per our MEL. We returned after 25 mins in-flight and fueled to the required level of 21.0 pounds vice the 12.2 we pushed with. We pushed to lax 35 mins late from original push time. The revised release (21.1 pounds) fuel was not on the original release signed by the captain and should have been a revised release prior to our push time. I feel that due to the tight turn time we were hurried to the point of omission. Additionally, this was the last day of the trip and we were all anxious to arrive home on time. Failure by the dispatch section to get a revised release and by oak operations to ensure the revised release was brought to the aircraft aided in this deviation.
