Narrative:
During south or southeast winds (often IFR) the ATIS at oak has taken time to list airport management's preferred runway use. When entering class B airspace under IFR flight plan, pilot is (can be) either confused or distracted by unnecessary length of ATIS. These xmissions are not necessary and are in fact not FAA approved. Unnecessary distractions are a flight hazard.

Title: RPTR PLT COMPLAINS THAT ATIS INFO IS TOO LENGTHY AND UNNECESSARY DISTRACTIONS ARE A FLT HAZARD.
Narrative: DURING S OR SE WINDS (OFTEN IFR) THE ATIS AT OAK HAS TAKEN TIME TO LIST ARPT MGMNT'S PREFERRED RWY USE. WHEN ENTERING CLASS B AIRSPACE UNDER IFR FLT PLAN, PLT IS (CAN BE) EITHER CONFUSED OR DISTRACTED BY UNNECESSARY LENGTH OF ATIS. THESE XMISSIONS ARE NOT NECESSARY AND ARE IN FACT NOT FAA APPROVED.
