Narrative:

The ASOS unit was reporting VFR conditions (measured 9500 ft broken visibility 10+ mi) when a thunderstorm moved through the airport area causing the tower visibility to go below 2 mi. No one is authority/authorized to augment the ASOS unit at pne. I had several planes wanting to land and depart at that time. Then when the thunderstorm left, the ASOS unit reported IFR conditions when the WX was VFR.

Title: ATC RPTR IS CONCERNED WITH ASOS ACCURACY DURING RAPIDLY CHANGING WX CONDITIONS AT PNE AND ALSO STATES THAT NO ONE IN THE TWR IS AUTH TO AUGMENT THE ASOS RPT EVEN WHEN IT'S OBVIOUSLY INCORRECT.

NO ONE IS AUTH TO AUGMENT THE ASOS UNIT AT PNE. I HAD SEVERAL PLANES WANTING TO LAND AND DEPART AT THAT TIME. THEN WHEN THE TSTM LEFT, THE ASOS UNIT RPTED IFR CONDITIONS WHEN THE WX WAS VFR.
