Narrative:
Location: na. Section 1, page 5 talks about malfunction that occurs away from gate before takeoff. If there is a yes for placarding you do not have to return to gate. Does that mean that if there is a no under all circumstances after gate departure do I have to return to the gate if prior to departure. I had an inoperative thrust reverser, did not work for power back. I had a tug hooked and pushed back while reviewing this. Looking at page 78-1 the note led me to believe that if I was not going to those listed airports and runway was good that I could go provided I did not power back. Rereading page 1-5 later I thought the wording was such that I might not be legal if the reverser happened prior to takeoff. I know I was safe, but was I legal? The wording in 78-1 made me believe I was legal. 1-5 made me think otherwise. By the way, I had let operations call maintenance to see if there were any provisions in mpm 78-1 that I needed to be aware of prior to departure.
