Narrative:
Near midair collision. Initial climb out of swf at 6000 ft heading 350 degrees assigned, 250 KTS, TCASII issued an RA. Target range approximately 1 mi, 200 ft below. I queried ATC about VFR traffic just as TCASII issued RA climb. Controller issued pop-up traffic at 11 O'clock, 1 mi. First officer was already complying with RA climb and we leveled at approximately 6500 ft. I saw small high wing cessna at approximately 10 O'clock going to 9 O'clock nearly level and approximately 500 ft lateral separation. Traffic passed behind without any maneuvering on his part. New york departure stated mode C on traffic of 5700 ft. Time approximately XA42Z. Location approximately 290 degrees 22 mi ign VOR. Frequency 132.75.
