Narrative:
After engine shutdown at mbj, ground mechanic reported smoke coming from forward cargo compartment. I immediately investigated and observed dark brown smoke billowing when cargo door was opened. I informed captain and we initiated emergency ground evacuate/evacuation. After evacuate/evacuation, I directed removal of an igloo type container which had been foamed. After much insistence, I got the fire crew to move the smoldering container 200 ft from the aircraft where it burst into flames alongside of the taxiway. The fire was extinguished by the fire crew. No apparent damage was noted to the aircraft, thanks to the igloo container which was burned to a black color. I noticed pool-shock dry concentrate containers (6) and a plastic bottle which appeared to contain acid (muratic?). No injuries were reported and no aircraft damage noted.

Narrative: AFTER ENG SHUTDOWN AT MBJ, GND MECH RPTED SMOKE COMING FROM FORWARD CARGO COMPARTMENT. I IMMEDIATELY INVESTIGATED AND OBSERVED DARK BROWN SMOKE BILLOWING WHEN CARGO DOOR WAS OPENED. I INFORMED CAPT AND WE INITIATED EMER GND EVAC. AFTER EVAC, I DIRECTED REMOVAL OF AN IGLOO TYPE CONTAINER WHICH HAD BEEN FOAMED. AFTER MUCH INSISTENCE, I GOT THE FIRE CREW TO MOVE THE SMOLDERING CONTAINER 200 FT FROM THE ACFT WHERE IT BURST INTO FLAMES ALONGSIDE OF THE TXWY. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED BY THE FIRE CREW. NO APPARENT DAMAGE WAS NOTED TO THE ACFT, THANKS TO THE IGLOO CONTAINER WHICH WAS BURNED TO A BLACK COLOR.
