Flight crew, cleared for takeoff, started takeoff roll on parallel taxiway. Both the flight crew and tower realized the mistake simultaneously. Flight crew aborted and taxied back for takeoff on the runway. MD80 night operation.

Narrative:
On the zulu bridge taxiway we were changed to the tower frequency. The tower cleared us for takeoff on runway 18L, when we passed taxiway hy, as there were no other traffic in the area. We inadvertently initiated a rolling takeoff on taxiway F mistaking it for runway 18L. We realized our mistake as did the tower controller. We stopped and taxied back for takeoff on runway 18L.
