Narrative:
Shortly after takeoff from runway 27 cvg during the landing gear up phase of flight, a loud bang was heard from the #2 engine. The #2 engine then failed with a successful automatic coarsen and was secured at 400 ft AGL. An emergency was declared and a single engine landing was made on runway 18L cvg. The landing was made 235 pounds over maximum landing weight. Aircraft is an SF340A. No unusual engine indications were noted during takeoff roll and everything appeared to be normal when the engine failed. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter does not know why his engine failed. He asked several times shortly after this happened, but no one would tell him.
