Narrative:
Practice ILS runway 16L for ft worth meacham. We had just been handed off to meacham tower from regional approach. Meacham called traffic 9 O'clock and less than a mi. Controller sounded tense. Saw an aircraft approaching on a collision course and we immediately took evasive action and pulled up into a steep climb. The intruder was not mentioned before handoff to tower. This area around ft worth alliance is a collision hazard, especially between alliance and meacham. Controllers for all 3 facilities (approach and 2 towers) need to be alert for aircraft talking to another facility. This intruder aircraft was heading due west, away from alliance airport. We need to have our heads outside the cockpit, especially in high density areas.

Narrative: PRACTICE ILS RWY 16L FOR FT WORTH MEACHAM. WE HAD JUST BEEN HANDED OFF TO MEACHAM TWR FROM REGIONAL APCH. MEACHAM CALLED TFC 9 O'CLOCK AND LESS THAN A MI. CTLR SOUNDED TENSE. SAW AN ACFT APCHING ON A COLLISION COURSE AND WE IMMEDIATELY TOOK EVASIVE ACTION AND PULLED UP INTO A STEEP CLB. THE INTRUDER WAS NOT MENTIONED BEFORE HDOF TO TWR. THIS AREA AROUND FT WORTH ALLIANCE IS A COLLISION HAZARD, ESPECIALLY BTWN ALLIANCE AND MEACHAM. CTLRS FOR ALL 3 FACILITIES (APCH AND 2 TWRS) NEED TO BE ALERT FOR ACFT TALKING TO ANOTHER FACILITY. THIS INTRUDER ACFT WAS HDG DUE W, AWAY FROM ALLIANCE ARPT. WE NEED TO HAVE OUR HEADS OUTSIDE THE COCKPIT, ESPECIALLY IN HIGH DENSITY AREAS.
