Narrative:

I was the PIC and PNF. We had been cleared for takeoff from the apex helipad at lga airport. The winds according to the tower were 070 degrees and we were instructed to fly a 090 degree heading and climb to 2000 ft. The WX was at minimums of 250 ft ceiling and it was at night. As we were accelerating to cdp down taxiway F, I noticed a jet aircraft rolling down runway 4 which we were about to fly over. I nudged the cyclic to the left and at the same time called the aircraft to the PF's attention. He paralleled the runway until we were about 100-200 ft in the air and then we crossed runway 4 above the jet which was landing on runway 4. The tower had cleared us for takeoff. Normally if there is an aircraft landing they will instruct us to pass behind the landing aircraft. In the future with low ceilings and at night I will always request a departure from a runway rather than a helipad.

Title: DEP HELI, DURING A NIGHT OP, HAS TO VEER AWAY FROM XING AN ACTIVE RWY AS PIC OBSERVES A LNDG ACFT ON ROLLOUT. TA NOT GIVEN.

Narrative: I WAS THE PIC AND PNF. WE HAD BEEN CLRED FOR TKOF FROM THE APEX HELIPAD AT LGA ARPT. THE WINDS ACCORDING TO THE TWR WERE 070 DEGS AND WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO FLY A 090 DEG HDG AND CLB TO 2000 FT. THE WX WAS AT MINIMUMS OF 250 FT CEILING AND IT WAS AT NIGHT. AS WE WERE ACCELERATING TO CDP DOWN TXWY F, I NOTICED A JET ACFT ROLLING DOWN RWY 4 WHICH WE WERE ABOUT TO FLY OVER. I NUDGED THE CYCLIC TO THE L AND AT THE SAME TIME CALLED THE ACFT TO THE PF'S ATTN. HE PARALLELED THE RWY UNTIL WE WERE ABOUT 100-200 FT IN THE AIR AND THEN WE CROSSED RWY 4 ABOVE THE JET WHICH WAS LNDG ON RWY 4. THE TWR HAD CLRED US FOR TKOF. NORMALLY IF THERE IS AN ACFT LNDG THEY WILL INSTRUCT US TO PASS BEHIND THE LNDG ACFT. IN THE FUTURE WITH LOW CEILINGS AND AT NIGHT I WILL ALWAYS REQUEST A DEP FROM A RWY RATHER THAN A HELIPAD.
