Narrative:
Aft cargo compartment sta 1852 all lateral guides inoperative electrically. MEL does not cover having 'all' inoperative. Guides were manually locked down and loading restrs were placarded in aircraft logbook. Maintenance controller authority/authorized deferral using MEL for '2 inoperative, both sides.' there are 6 guides total. MEL needs to be clarified to include or preclude condition that existed.

Narrative: AFT CARGO COMPARTMENT STA 1852 ALL LATERAL GUIDES INOP ELECTRICALLY. MEL DOES NOT COVER HAVING 'ALL' INOP. GUIDES WERE MANUALLY LOCKED DOWN AND LOADING RESTRS WERE PLACARDED IN ACFT LOGBOOK. MAINT CTLR AUTH DEFERRAL USING MEL FOR '2 INOP, BOTH SIDES.' THERE ARE 6 GUIDES TOTAL. MEL NEEDS TO BE CLARIFIED TO INCLUDE OR PRECLUDE CONDITION THAT EXISTED.
