Narrative:
Tower controller cleared us for takeoff and left closed traffic to runway 16. We turned crosswind and the tower instructed us to turn downwind in close for traffic on final to runway 16. Approximately abeam the approach end of runway 16, the tower instructed us to proceed directly to runway 16. We turned base (modified) toward runway 16. The tower then instructed us to continue base and fly across final at pattern altitude. We climbed to pattern altitude and looked for traffic. Tower then instructed us to enter a right base to runway 20. We started a left turn to enter a right base. The tower controller then instructed us to make a right turn to downwind. During this entire event the tower controller was condescending in tone of voice. The tower controller then cleared us to land runway 16 full stop only. After landing we were cleared to back taxi on runway 16 for additional circuits. The supervisor or another controller took over and the ensuing flight was uneventful.

Title: A CAPT RPTS CONFUSION WITH ATC INSTRUCTIONS DURING TOUCH- AND-GO LNDGS WHILE ON A DEMO FLT. THE FLC WAS TOLD TO DISCONTINUE A SHORT APCH FOR NO APPARENT REASON AND THEN CORRECTED WITH A TURN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION, WHEN THEY WERE ENTERING THE PATTERN FOR THE NEWLY ASSIGNED RWY.
Narrative: TWR CTLR CLRED US FOR TKOF AND L CLOSED TFC TO RWY 16. WE TURNED XWIND AND THE TWR INSTRUCTED US TO TURN DOWNWIND IN CLOSE FOR TFC ON FINAL TO RWY 16. APPROX ABEAM THE APCH END OF RWY 16, THE TWR INSTRUCTED US TO PROCEED DIRECTLY TO RWY 16. WE TURNED BASE (MODIFIED) TOWARD RWY 16. THE TWR THEN INSTRUCTED US TO CONTINUE BASE AND FLY ACROSS FINAL AT PATTERN ALT. WE CLBED TO PATTERN ALT AND LOOKED FOR TFC. TWR THEN INSTRUCTED US TO ENTER A R BASE TO RWY 20. WE STARTED A L TURN TO ENTER A R BASE. THE TWR CTLR THEN INSTRUCTED US TO MAKE A R TURN TO DOWNWIND. DURING THIS ENTIRE EVENT THE TWR CTLR WAS CONDESCENDING IN TONE OF VOICE. THE TWR CTLR THEN CLRED US TO LAND RWY 16 FULL STOP ONLY. AFTER LNDG WE WERE CLRED TO BACK TAXI ON RWY 16 FOR ADDITIONAL CIRCUITS. THE SUPVR OR ANOTHER CTLR TOOK OVER AND THE ENSUING FLT WAS UNEVENTFUL.
