Narrative:

At about 1200 ft AGL on tow, the forward canopy of a grob 103 glider came open. The passenger in front pulled it closed and a landing was made without incident. Minor damage to rear hinge attachment of forward canopy was sustained. A preflight review had shown the latching handle in a closed position.

Title: THE PLT OF A GROB 103 GLIDER RETURNED TO LAND FROM BEING ON TOW FOR ALT WHEN THE FRONT CANOPY OPENED. HOWEVER, THE PAX WAS ABLE TO CLOSE IT PRIOR TO LNDG.

Narrative: AT ABOUT 1200 FT AGL ON TOW, THE FORWARD CANOPY OF A GROB 103 GLIDER CAME OPEN. THE PAX IN FRONT PULLED IT CLOSED AND A LNDG WAS MADE WITHOUT INCIDENT. MINOR DAMAGE TO REAR HINGE ATTACHMENT OF FORWARD CANOPY WAS SUSTAINED. A PREFLT REVIEW HAD SHOWN THE LATCHING HANDLE IN A CLOSED POS.
