Narrative:
On taxi out I noticed 'left pack fail' on cas message. I recycled button and the message went away as per QRH (checklist). After receiving clearance for takeoff, I called for final checks. The first officer completed them. Right before advancing the power levers into a takeoff position, I noticed the amber 'left pack fail' cas message. I taxied the aircraft clear of the runway, and called for the checklist again. Then we got a 'lavatory smoke' cas message. I then told the first officer to run the checklist for lavatory smoke, but there was no procedure in the QRH. At the same time the flight attendant told me that there was smoke in the cabin. I then turned off the left pack button and left engine bleed button. I called the flight attendant back and he told me that the smoke was gone and everything looked fine. I then taxied the aircraft back to the gate. Mechanics fixed the problem and the trip was completed.
