Narrative:

During climb phase of flight, we received a cargo smoke warning climbing through 10500 ft MSL. Jfk was the ATC facility handling the flight, we declared the emergency and received priority to return to jfk and land. ATC did a great job! No damage or injuries. The memory items were completed, followed by the rest of the checklist. During the descent back toward jfk, the cargo smoke light came on and then off. This gave us a sign it may be an indication problem in the system. The flight attendant reported no sign of any smoke or fire in the cabin of the aircraft. We landed and taxied into the gate area and deplaned the passenger without any other problems.
