Narrative:

Passenger saw aircraft pass under our aircraft, I did not see. Cvg approach told us to maintain 'present heading' at 5500 ft. Very hazy. Compass card off and moving. I tried to maintain directional gyro heading and wet compass heading in light turbulence. Cvg approach control, after aircraft passed under us, asked what is heading, I responded 040-050 degrees. He said 'what were you last assigned?' I said 'present heading.' he said 'what did the last controller tell you to maintain?' I said '010 degrees, and my compass card is off from compass.' nothing else was said, but I could tell controller was annoyed.
