Narrative:

I was the first officer and PF on a DC10 taking off from lax, when as the aircraft was accelerating through 130 KTS there was a fire warning in engine #1. There was no loss of power and all engine instruments seemed normal. The captain elected to continue the takeoff. At a safe altitude the aircraft was cleaned up and the captain and so started the 'engine fire' checklist. Upon closing the effected thrust lever the warning went out, the fire loops were tested and power was restored to the #1 engine. There were no further indications of fire/overheat and the engine instruments were within normal limits. It was elected to continue the flight to newark. Upon arrival at the gate it was discovered that part of the sound absorbing material had been damaged by a bleed leak. From my seat I did not study the so's panel, because I was the PF. The lack of indications of engine damage may have been due to the engine bleed switch being turned off.

Title: FLC OF A DC10 HAD AN ENG FIRE OVERHEAT WARNING DURING TKOF ROLL AND CONTINUED ON TO DEST SINCE THE ENG PERFORMANCE WAS NOT AFFECTED AND THE WARNING LIGHT SUBSEQUENTLY WENT OUT AFTER ENG FIRE CHKLIST WAS COMPLETED.

Narrative: I WAS THE FO AND PF ON A DC10 TAKING OFF FROM LAX, WHEN AS THE ACFT WAS ACCELERATING THROUGH 130 KTS THERE WAS A FIRE WARNING IN ENG #1. THERE WAS NO LOSS OF PWR AND ALL ENG INSTS SEEMED NORMAL. THE CAPT ELECTED TO CONTINUE THE TKOF. AT A SAFE ALT THE ACFT WAS CLEANED UP AND THE CAPT AND SO STARTED THE 'ENG FIRE' CHKLIST. UPON CLOSING THE EFFECTED THRUST LEVER THE WARNING WENT OUT, THE FIRE LOOPS WERE TESTED AND PWR WAS RESTORED TO THE #1 ENG. THERE WERE NO FURTHER INDICATIONS OF FIRE/OVERHEAT AND THE ENG INSTS WERE WITHIN NORMAL LIMITS. IT WAS ELECTED TO CONTINUE THE FLT TO NEWARK. UPON ARR AT THE GATE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT PART OF THE SOUND ABSORBING MATERIAL HAD BEEN DAMAGED BY A BLEED LEAK. FROM MY SEAT I DID NOT STUDY THE SO'S PANEL, BECAUSE I WAS THE PF. THE LACK OF INDICATIONS OF ENG DAMAGE MAY HAVE BEEN DUE TO THE ENG BLEED SWITCH BEING TURNED OFF.
