Narrative:

Approach control issued a descent to 3000 ft which was read back and set in the altitude reminder box. Passing 5500 ft, the controller said he had issued 6000 ft. The aircraft was then returned to 6000 ft. The controller should make a note of altitudes given.

Title: FLC OF AN MLG OVERSHOT THE ALT DURING DSCNT DUE TO BEING GIVEN THE WRONG ALT BY ATC. ATC INTERVENED AFTER THE ACFT WAS OBSERVED GOING BELOW THE ALT INTENDED BY ATC.

Narrative: APCH CTL ISSUED A DSCNT TO 3000 FT WHICH WAS READ BACK AND SET IN THE ALT REMINDER BOX. PASSING 5500 FT, THE CTLR SAID HE HAD ISSUED 6000 FT. THE ACFT WAS THEN RETURNED TO 6000 FT. THE CTLR SHOULD MAKE A NOTE OF ALTS GIVEN.
