Narrative:

Cleared to climb to 10000 ft and to intercept V53 on a heading of 360 degrees. Just prior to leveloff, traffic noted on TCASII at 10000 ft. Captain asked for traffic and it was called at 1 O'clock. Saw traffic. Pulled to climb over converging traffic as ATC cleared us to climb to 11000 ft and then to 17000 ft. Miss distance less than 1000 ft. Had we not climbed, it would have been close.
