Narrative:
Copilot flying, aircraft passing FL290 on walet arrival for memphis airport. Copilot misread departing radial out of sqs and turned 50 degrees instead of 341 degrees. Center informed us and told us to immediately turn left to a heading of 360 degrees. I was on heading 40 degrees just over sqs VOR. No TCASII alert nor any aircraft on the display. Controller asked why I was turning off the arrival. I stated that I misread the outbound radial. He stated no problem and told us to switch to a new frequency. He did seem upset when he first saw my 40 degree heading versus 341 degrees. I (copilot) misread the STAR. We never saw the other aircraft that center mentioned, nor did TCASII. Our aircraft was descending to FL240. The captain was giving a passenger announcement at the time of my error. Had flown same STAR many times before and got complacent about my exact position.

Title: AN ACR PF (FO) BECAME COMPLACENT OVER EXACT POS, AND TURNED OFF THE SID. THE PNF (CAPT) WAS GIVING A PAX ANNOUNCEMENT WHEN THE CTLR QUERIED THE CREW ABOUT THE TURN.
Narrative: COPLT FLYING, ACFT PASSING FL290 ON WALET ARR FOR MEMPHIS ARPT. COPLT MISREAD DEPARTING RADIAL OUT OF SQS AND TURNED 50 DEGS INSTEAD OF 341 DEGS. CTR INFORMED US AND TOLD US TO IMMEDIATELY TURN L TO A HDG OF 360 DEGS. I WAS ON HDG 40 DEGS JUST OVER SQS VOR. NO TCASII ALERT NOR ANY ACFT ON THE DISPLAY. CTLR ASKED WHY I WAS TURNING OFF THE ARR. I STATED THAT I MISREAD THE OUTBOUND RADIAL. HE STATED NO PROB AND TOLD US TO SWITCH TO A NEW FREQ. HE DID SEEM UPSET WHEN HE FIRST SAW MY 40 DEG HDG VERSUS 341 DEGS. I (COPLT) MISREAD THE STAR. WE NEVER SAW THE OTHER ACFT THAT CTR MENTIONED, NOR DID TCASII. OUR ACFT WAS DSNDING TO FL240. THE CAPT WAS GIVING A PAX ANNOUNCEMENT AT THE TIME OF MY ERROR. HAD FLOWN SAME STAR MANY TIMES BEFORE AND GOT COMPLACENT ABOUT MY EXACT POS.
