Narrative:

Landing gear failure because gear was not locked into position. No propeller damage. Cost to repair is $50. However, a review of my paperwork ultimately showed my medical certificate to be 2 weeks out of date. I had completed a special examination. Passed. Sent to oklahoma city but was later told that they are 6 weeks behind in processing and thus I hadn't received my new certificate. I didn't realize I was not technically legal. Called st louis FAA. They explained I was not legal unless I had the new certificate in possession. I am not flying and did not fly the airplane home from minnesota until I received the medical certificate from oklahoma city FAA.
