Narrative:
Flight instructing in a multi-engine airplane I failed to notice my student had switched 2 out of 4 tanks to low fuel cells. The left engine failed as a result of fuel starvation and the only safe action was to feather the dead engine and land. The engine failed during a go around and the tower was notified of the single engine situation. No emergency was declared, no property or persons were injured.
