Narrative:
While on an IFR flight plan and following V157 at 8000 ft from ric to lvl, there were large thunderstorm buildups to the left and on the airway. I asked the controller for deviations for WX as necessary to avoid buildups and this was approved. I was to the right of the airway but still to the left of R6602B. All heading changes were approved by the controller. Suddenly a new control voice requested I turn to 190 degree to avoid restr airspace. (Believed I was still just to left of R6602B, however, maybe not.) I replied 'negative, turn to 190 degrees. It would put me right into the center of major thunderstorm.' the thunderstorm was less then 1 mi away, a line 20 mi long. Compass heading 270 degrees, ground track 240 degrees, GS 98 KTS, position 7 NM on 022 degree radial lvl. I turned back to left and joined V157 in about 5 mi. The controller provided no warning concerning approach to R6602B nor clearance through the area. WX was VFR outside of thunderstorm. Could have deviated to the right, around the restr area if requested earlier.

Title: WHILE DEVIATING FOR WX, A PLT OF AN MO20 MAY HAVE ENTERED RESTR AIRSPACE. THE ARTCC RADAR CTLR SUPVR HAD ISSUED A CLRNC AWAY FROM THE AIRSPACE, BUT THE RPTR WAS UNABLE TO COMPLY DUE TO TSTMS IN HIS PATH.
Narrative: WHILE ON AN IFR FLT PLAN AND FOLLOWING V157 AT 8000 FT FROM RIC TO LVL, THERE WERE LARGE TSTM BUILDUPS TO THE L AND ON THE AIRWAY. I ASKED THE CTLR FOR DEVS FOR WX AS NECESSARY TO AVOID BUILDUPS AND THIS WAS APPROVED. I WAS TO THE R OF THE AIRWAY BUT STILL TO THE L OF R6602B. ALL HDG CHANGES WERE APPROVED BY THE CTLR. SUDDENLY A NEW CTL VOICE REQUESTED I TURN TO 190 DEG TO AVOID RESTR AIRSPACE. (BELIEVED I WAS STILL JUST TO L OF R6602B, HOWEVER, MAYBE NOT.) I REPLIED 'NEGATIVE, TURN TO 190 DEGS. IT WOULD PUT ME RIGHT INTO THE CTR OF MAJOR TSTM.' THE TSTM WAS LESS THEN 1 MI AWAY, A LINE 20 MI LONG. COMPASS HDG 270 DEGS, GND TRACK 240 DEGS, GS 98 KTS, POS 7 NM ON 022 DEG RADIAL LVL. I TURNED BACK TO L AND JOINED V157 IN ABOUT 5 MI. THE CTLR PROVIDED NO WARNING CONCERNING APCH TO R6602B NOR CLRNC THROUGH THE AREA. WX WAS VFR OUTSIDE OF TSTM. COULD HAVE DEVIATED TO THE R, AROUND THE RESTR AREA IF REQUESTED EARLIER.
