Narrative:
While descending into norfolk on the terks 2 arrival, I was instructed to turn to a 170 degree heading at terks. When terks flashed and disappeared on the display I turned to a 170 degree heading. A moment later the controller said that I had turned too early by 5 mi. Note: aircraft was indicating 320 KTS and was at 14000 ft MSL (2.7 mi high). Aircraft will automatically lead the turn. After talking with the controller I was later cleared a visual and was so preoccupied with the previous incident that I started my descent late for runway 5 at orf (norfolk, va) and had to do a 270 degree turn to join the final.
