Narrative:
En route guam to narita airport, tokyo, japan. PF noted TCASII traffic dead ahead at same altitude with high closure rate. Immediately turned on landing lights and turned left. Traffic passed to right, opposite direction, indicating plus 600 ft on TCASII. Received TCASII TA warning. Traffic observed on TCASII to climb rapidly to FL370 after passing. Did not respond to call on common VHF frequency 128.95. Incident reported to tokyo radio. TCASII display/advance warning prevented potential mid-air and provided sufficient advance warning to negate any need for violent collision avoidance maneuvers.
