Narrative:

Approximately 100 mi from miami, we called ZMA to request a lower altitude. Several attempts were unsuccessful. Assuming we had flown beyond the reception range for the last assigned frequency, we attempted contact on successive sector frequencys from the high altitude chart. The third frequency attempted was successful in re-establishing contact with ZMA. We were now approximately 60 mi northeast of miami at FL350. A descent vector was given for our descent and arrival sequence for landing. No other abnormalities or traffic conflicts occurred.

Narrative: APPROX 100 MI FROM MIAMI, WE CALLED ZMA TO REQUEST A LOWER ALT. SEVERAL ATTEMPTS WERE UNSUCCESSFUL. ASSUMING WE HAD FLOWN BEYOND THE RECEPTION RANGE FOR THE LAST ASSIGNED FREQ, WE ATTEMPTED CONTACT ON SUCCESSIVE SECTOR FREQS FROM THE HIGH ALT CHART. THE THIRD FREQ ATTEMPTED WAS SUCCESSFUL IN RE-ESTABLISHING CONTACT WITH ZMA. WE WERE NOW APPROX 60 MI NE OF MIAMI AT FL350. A DSCNT VECTOR WAS GIVEN FOR OUR DSCNT AND ARR SEQUENCE FOR LNDG.
