Narrative:
We were cleared to 10000 ft on approach to runway 10R at pdx. As autoplt went into capture mode, a TA went off in the TCASII. Visually unable to locate aircraft due to undercast. Shortly thereafter, the TA changed to an RA. I was now able to see the other aircraft coming out of the clouds and determined that no evasive action was required. At this time the first officer reported we were still descending. I disengaged the autoplt and returned the aircraft to 10000 ft. We had descended to between 9700 ft and 9800 ft. Approach was continued with no further incident.
