Narrative:
As a result of deviation around thunderstorms and moderate to severe turbulence, my captain and I felt, in the interest of safety, that it may be necessary to deviate from our original approach clearance (visual) into runway 13 at bismarck, to instead set up approach and descent to runway 13 at mandan, nd, airport in order to avoid excessive windshear/turbulence. The approach controller at bismarck notified us that we were set up to land on runway 13 at mandan and at that time, with the WX constraints, we were unable to respond and decided to execute a go around at mandan, which we transmitted those intentions to the controller. He responded with a clearance to enter a base leg entry to runway 13 at bismarck and, due to further WX constraints, we requested a downwind entry to runway 31 at bismarck. At no time did our wheels touch the ground at mandan and at no time did the air traffic controller indicate that we had deviated from his clearance.

Title: AN ACR LTT APPARENTLY MADE AN APCH TO RWY 13 AT Y19 WHEN HIS INTENTION AND CLRNC WERE TO LAND AT BIS. WRONG ARPT APCH WRONG RWY APCH. ERROR NOT ADMITTED, BUT A LAME ATTEMPT TO COVER-UP.
Narrative: AS A RESULT OF DEV AROUND TSTMS AND MODERATE TO SEVERE TURB, MY CAPT AND I FELT, IN THE INTEREST OF SAFETY, THAT IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO DEVIATE FROM OUR ORIGINAL APCH CLRNC (VISUAL) INTO RWY 13 AT BISMARCK, TO INSTEAD SET UP APCH AND DSCNT TO RWY 13 AT MANDAN, ND, ARPT IN ORDER TO AVOID EXCESSIVE WINDSHEAR/TURB. THE APCH CTLR AT BISMARCK NOTIFIED US THAT WE WERE SET UP TO LAND ON RWY 13 AT MANDAN AND AT THAT TIME, WITH THE WX CONSTRAINTS, WE WERE UNABLE TO RESPOND AND DECIDED TO EXECUTE A GAR AT MANDAN, WHICH WE XMITTED THOSE INTENTIONS TO THE CTLR. HE RESPONDED WITH A CLRNC TO ENTER A BASE LEG ENTRY TO RWY 13 AT BISMARCK AND, DUE TO FURTHER WX CONSTRAINTS, WE REQUESTED A DOWNWIND ENTRY TO RWY 31 AT BISMARCK. AT NO TIME DID OUR WHEELS TOUCH THE GND AT MANDAN AND AT NO TIME DID THE AIR TFC CTLR INDICATE THAT WE HAD DEVIATED FROM HIS CLRNC.
