Narrative:
I was cleared after departure at las to turn left heading 100 degrees and maintain 3500 ft MSL. After takeoff I turned to the heading of 100 degrees but completely forgot to maintain 3500 ft MSL. I continued to climb through the assigned altitude causing a traffic conflict. I was never informed of the traffic conflict until I returned to my flight school in az. After traffic conflict occurred there were 2 air traffic controllers speaking to me at the same time. It was difficult to understand what they were talking about. My microphone button was not transmitting well. It kept cutting in and out of the xmissions. They may not have been able to understand me when I would reply to their xmissions. I have no excuse for deviating from the assigned altitude. I was not paying attention to my altimeter or the clearance. I'm just glad I did not cause any serious problems. If you talk to las approach please tell them I apologize and will never forget to pay attention to clearance instructions again.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PVT PLT ON A XCOUNTRY TRAINING FLT CLBED ABOVE ASSIGNED ALT DURING DEP CLB IN CLASS B AIRSPACE. DEP'S XMISSIONS WERE EVIDENTLY STEPPED ON AND THE RPTR DID NOT HEAR THEIR INTERVENTION TO REMIND HIM OF HIS ALT ASSIGNMENT.
Narrative: I WAS CLRED AFTER DEP AT LAS TO TURN L HDG 100 DEGS AND MAINTAIN 3500 FT MSL. AFTER TKOF I TURNED TO THE HDG OF 100 DEGS BUT COMPLETELY FORGOT TO MAINTAIN 3500 FT MSL. I CONTINUED TO CLB THROUGH THE ASSIGNED ALT CAUSING A TFC CONFLICT. I WAS NEVER INFORMED OF THE TFC CONFLICT UNTIL I RETURNED TO MY FLT SCHOOL IN AZ. AFTER TFC CONFLICT OCCURRED THERE WERE 2 AIR TFC CTLRS SPEAKING TO ME AT THE SAME TIME. IT WAS DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT. MY MIKE BUTTON WAS NOT XMITTING WELL. IT KEPT CUTTING IN AND OUT OF THE XMISSIONS. THEY MAY NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO UNDERSTAND ME WHEN I WOULD REPLY TO THEIR XMISSIONS. I HAVE NO EXCUSE FOR DEVIATING FROM THE ASSIGNED ALT. I WAS NOT PAYING ATTN TO MY ALTIMETER OR THE CLRNC. I'M JUST GLAD I DID NOT CAUSE ANY SERIOUS PROBS. IF YOU TALK TO LAS APCH PLEASE TELL THEM I APOLOGIZE AND WILL NEVER FORGET TO PAY ATTN TO CLRNC INSTRUCTIONS AGAIN.
