Narrative:
Aircraft suffered electrical failure on approach. I had just gotten ATIS and had switched to approach control. Lost radios and transponder. Intercom working briefly. I proceeded out to east short of lake champlain and circled hoping to get air traffic controller's attention. Suddenly a rumbling noise was experienced and I became concerned of a major engine malfunction. I then visually cleared area and proceeded directly into a long left base for runway 19. At each turn, I attempted to announce my position in case the radios came back on-line. While on short final, an F16 executed a go around. I landed and back taxied to the nearest turnoff where I received light signals from the tower. Upon shutdown, I was asked to call the control tower manager which I did. Later that afternoon, I received a call from the portland, me, office and spoke to an FAA official. It was determined that excessive corrosion caused the main circuit breaker to trip. The corrosion was removed and the aircraft was flown home.

Title: PLT OF A NORTH AMERICAN T6 LANDED WITHOUT TWR CLRNC WHEN HE LOST ALL ELECTRICAL PWR TO SUPPLY HIS RADIOS RESULTING IN THE TWR SENDING AN F16 AROUND WHO WAS ON SHORT FINAL.
Narrative: ACFT SUFFERED ELECTRICAL FAILURE ON APCH. I HAD JUST GOTTEN ATIS AND HAD SWITCHED TO APCH CTL. LOST RADIOS AND XPONDER. INTERCOM WORKING BRIEFLY. I PROCEEDED OUT TO E SHORT OF LAKE CHAMPLAIN AND CIRCLED HOPING TO GET AIR TFC CTLR'S ATTN. SUDDENLY A RUMBLING NOISE WAS EXPERIENCED AND I BECAME CONCERNED OF A MAJOR ENG MALFUNCTION. I THEN VISUALLY CLRED AREA AND PROCEEDED DIRECTLY INTO A LONG L BASE FOR RWY 19. AT EACH TURN, I ATTEMPTED TO ANNOUNCE MY POS IN CASE THE RADIOS CAME BACK ON-LINE. WHILE ON SHORT FINAL, AN F16 EXECUTED A GAR. I LANDED AND BACK TAXIED TO THE NEAREST TURNOFF WHERE I RECEIVED LIGHT SIGNALS FROM THE TWR. UPON SHUTDOWN, I WAS ASKED TO CALL THE CTL TWR MGR WHICH I DID. LATER THAT AFTERNOON, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE PORTLAND, ME, OFFICE AND SPOKE TO AN FAA OFFICIAL. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT EXCESSIVE CORROSION CAUSED THE MAIN CIRCUIT BREAKER TO TRIP. THE CORROSION WAS REMOVED AND THE ACFT WAS FLOWN HOME.
