Narrative:
Ind departure control gave us 6000 ft. There were large thunderstorms off the departure end of runway 32 and I was occupied trying to get another heading other than runway heading and watching the radar. I inadvertently set in 7000 ft in the altitude warning window and didn't catch my mistake until the aircraft leveled off at 7000 ft. Ind departure control advised that she gave us 6000 ft but there was no conflict with other traffic.

Title: ALTDEV ON CLB. RPTR CAPT INADVERTENTLY ROLLED ALT ALERT WHEEL UP 1000 FT AND NEITHER PLT NOTICED THE DEV UNTIL 1000 FT ABOVE ASSIGNED ALT. CTLR REMINDED THEM OF CLRED ALT, BUT THERE WAS NO CONFLICT.
Narrative: IND DEP CTL GAVE US 6000 FT. THERE WERE LARGE TSTMS OFF THE DEP END OF RWY 32 AND I WAS OCCUPIED TRYING TO GET ANOTHER HDG OTHER THAN RWY HDG AND WATCHING THE RADAR. I INADVERTENTLY SET IN 7000 FT IN THE ALT WARNING WINDOW AND DIDN'T CATCH MY MISTAKE UNTIL THE ACFT LEVELED OFF AT 7000 FT. IND DEP CTL ADVISED THAT SHE GAVE US 6000 FT BUT THERE WAS NO CONFLICT WITH OTHER TFC.
