Narrative:

My aircraft was on a left downwind approach for landing when an experimental aircraft flew directly in front and slightly above me without announcing intentions, even though he did have a radio, on which he eventually acknowledged he would slow to follow my approach. The problem was caused by nonstandard operating procedures on the other pilot's part, and could perhaps be rectified by requiring communications procedures at uncontrolled airports.
