Narrative:

While climbing to FL310 direct to jot, ZAU issued a reroute of direct bvt direct brave intersection. The PNF was having problems locating brave intersection on the chart, so I entered it into our FMS. The autoplt was engaged and altitude select was selected. During the distraction over brave intersection, the controller reported we were at FL317. He stated it was not a problem and that there was no conflict and to maintain FL310. The aircraft was returned to FL310 and the autoplt closely monitored during the remainder of preflight. The cause was simply 'who is flying the aircraft?'
