Narrative:
Orlando was landing and departing on runway 18L. When we were #1 for takeoff there were a couple of arrs on final so we were sent across runway 18L to runway 18R and cleared for takeoff. Apparently the runway had not been used for a while. At about V1 speed the first officer and I spotted some buzzards on the runway ahead and to the left of centerline. The first officer altered course to the right of centerline and rotated. Our path would have cleared the birds but for the fact that they also rotated about the same time. We passed the birds at less than 30 ft AGL. We did not hear or feel any impact and all engine readings remained steady. We were told after departure by the tower that they did find buzzard remains on the runway. Notified maintenance in dfw to perform an inspection on the aircraft. My own post flight examination showed no obvious damage.

Title: MD80 SUPER 80 STRUCK BIRD DURING TKOF MCO.
Narrative: ORLANDO WAS LNDG AND DEPARTING ON RWY 18L. WHEN WE WERE #1 FOR TKOF THERE WERE A COUPLE OF ARRS ON FINAL SO WE WERE SENT ACROSS RWY 18L TO RWY 18R AND CLRED FOR TKOF. APPARENTLY THE RWY HAD NOT BEEN USED FOR A WHILE. AT ABOUT V1 SPD THE FO AND I SPOTTED SOME BUZZARDS ON THE RWY AHEAD AND TO THE L OF CTRLINE. THE FO ALTERED COURSE TO THE R OF CTRLINE AND ROTATED. OUR PATH WOULD HAVE CLRED THE BIRDS BUT FOR THE FACT THAT THEY ALSO ROTATED ABOUT THE SAME TIME. WE PASSED THE BIRDS AT LESS THAN 30 FT AGL. WE DID NOT HEAR OR FEEL ANY IMPACT AND ALL ENG READINGS REMAINED STEADY. WE WERE TOLD AFTER DEP BY THE TWR THAT THEY DID FIND BUZZARD REMAINS ON THE RWY. NOTIFIED MAINT IN DFW TO PERFORM AN INSPECTION ON THE ACFT. MY OWN POST FLT EXAMINATION SHOWED NO OBVIOUS DAMAGE.
