Narrative:

On visual approach to runway 35C at dfw, first officer flying. On left base, approach control kept us high and called numerous traffic below including cessna traffic right to left. At 1000 ft after cleared for visual approach while in descending left turn, got TCASII TA. At 900 ft got TCASII RA to reduce descent to 0. This diverted our attention to looking for traffic below. The turn continued resulting in incorrect lineup to runway 35L. At 800 ft caught the error and notified tower we were maneuvering to the right for runway 35C. The high approach along with the numerous traffic and TCASII alerts caused a distraction contributing to this error. I had dialed in the ILS frequency for runway 35C but not the course, again due to workload. Had I done so it would have been apparent sooner that we were lined up incorrectly. Supplemental information from acn 350650: I believe my incorrect lineup resulted from a high workload due to the slam dunk approach and responding to the RA on final. Also, I maintained my angle of bank during the RA which contributed to the incorrect line up.

Original NASA ASRS Text

Title: SUPER 80 FLC HAS A TEMPORARY LINEUP WITH RWY 35L VERSUS RWY 35C AFTER HAVING RECEIVED A TCASII RA FROM XING TFC BELOW.

Narrative: ON VISUAL APCH TO RWY 35C AT DFW, FO FLYING. ON L BASE, APCH CTL KEPT US HIGH AND CALLED NUMEROUS TFC BELOW INCLUDING CESSNA TFC R TO L. AT 1000 FT AFTER CLRED FOR VISUAL APCH WHILE IN DSNDING L TURN, GOT TCASII TA. AT 900 FT GOT TCASII RA TO REDUCE DSCNT TO 0. THIS DIVERTED OUR ATTN TO LOOKING FOR TFC BELOW. THE TURN CONTINUED RESULTING IN INCORRECT LINEUP TO RWY 35L. AT 800 FT CAUGHT THE ERROR AND NOTIFIED TWR WE WERE MANEUVERING TO THE R FOR RWY 35C. THE HIGH APCH ALONG WITH THE NUMEROUS TFC AND TCASII ALERTS CAUSED A DISTR CONTRIBUTING TO THIS ERROR. I HAD DIALED IN THE ILS FREQ FOR RWY 35C BUT NOT THE COURSE, AGAIN DUE TO WORKLOAD. HAD I DONE SO IT WOULD HAVE BEEN APPARENT SOONER THAT WE WERE LINED UP INCORRECTLY. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 350650: I BELIEVE MY INCORRECT LINEUP RESULTED FROM A HIGH WORKLOAD DUE TO THE SLAM DUNK APCH AND RESPONDING TO THE RA ON FINAL. ALSO, I MAINTAINED MY ANGLE OF BANK DURING THE RA WHICH CONTRIBUTED TO THE INCORRECT LINE UP.
