Narrative:
This statement is given at the request of air carrier X concerning the operation of air carrier X flight slc-yyl. B727 was used. All pertinent checklists were performed prior to movement of the aircraft. Review of maintenance logbook indicated that the aft cargo light was inoperative. I reviewed the corresponding MEL (door warning light system) with flight engineer. Prior to pushback I said to the tug driver, 'brakes released, if the doors are closed you are cleared to push.' flight was subsequently cleared to taxi to runway 16R for takeoff. A normal takeoff roll ensued. Shortly after rotation I heard engine compressor stalls and #3 engine EPR gauge decreased. Retarded #3 throttle to idle and declared emergency. Tower cleared us to land slc runway 16R. The approach, touchdown, and rollout were normal. During taxi in, ground control informed us that on landing, our cargo door opened on the runway. Supplemental information from acn 350797: and some baggage dropped on the runway.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: B727 ACFT HAD COMPRESSOR STALL ON #3 ENG JUST AFTER ROTATION. THROTTLE WAS RETARDED TO IDLE, AN EMER WAS DECLARED AND FLC RETURNED TO LAND. AFTER LNDG THE CARGO DOOR CAME OPEN AND SOME BAGGAGE DROPPED ON THE RWY.
Narrative: THIS STATEMENT IS GIVEN AT THE REQUEST OF ACR X CONCERNING THE OP OF ACR X FLT SLC-YYL. B727 WAS USED. ALL PERTINENT CHKLISTS WERE PERFORMED PRIOR TO MOVEMENT OF THE ACFT. REVIEW OF MAINT LOGBOOK INDICATED THAT THE AFT CARGO LIGHT WAS INOP. I REVIEWED THE CORRESPONDING MEL (DOOR WARNING LIGHT SYS) WITH FE. PRIOR TO PUSHBACK I SAID TO THE TUG DRIVER, 'BRAKES RELEASED, IF THE DOORS ARE CLOSED YOU ARE CLRED TO PUSH.' FLT WAS SUBSEQUENTLY CLRED TO TAXI TO RWY 16R FOR TKOF. A NORMAL TKOF ROLL ENSUED. SHORTLY AFTER ROTATION I HEARD ENG COMPRESSOR STALLS AND #3 ENG EPR GAUGE DECREASED. RETARDED #3 THROTTLE TO IDLE AND DECLARED EMER. TWR CLRED US TO LAND SLC RWY 16R. THE APCH, TOUCHDOWN, AND ROLLOUT WERE NORMAL. DURING TAXI IN, GND CTL INFORMED US THAT ON LNDG, OUR CARGO DOOR OPENED ON THE RWY. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 350797: AND SOME BAGGAGE DROPPED ON THE RWY.
