Narrative:

While on final approach to runway 30 at long beach, ca, at 300 ft in VFR conditions under part 91. Someone said 'your gears not down.' I recycled the landing gear switch. Was told 'gear is down.' I landed safely. After landing maintenance check revealed landing gear switch was intermittent and faulty. Gear switch was replaced. Also a round mirror was placed on left engine cowling so as to visually see if gear is down.

Title: PLT OF A CESSNA 402 WAS ALERTED ON SHORT FINAL THAT HIS LNDG GEAR WAS NOT DOWN SO HE RECYCLED THE GEAR SWITCH AND EXTENDED THE GEAR FOR A SAFE LNDG.

Narrative: WHILE ON FINAL APCH TO RWY 30 AT LONG BEACH, CA, AT 300 FT IN VFR CONDITIONS UNDER PART 91. SOMEONE SAID 'YOUR GEARS NOT DOWN.' I RECYCLED THE LNDG GEAR SWITCH. WAS TOLD 'GEAR IS DOWN.' I LANDED SAFELY. AFTER LNDG MAINT CHK REVEALED LNDG GEAR SWITCH WAS INTERMITTENT AND FAULTY. GEAR SWITCH WAS REPLACED. ALSO A ROUND MIRROR WAS PLACED ON L ENG COWLING SO AS TO VISUALLY SEE IF GEAR IS DOWN.
