Narrative:

On the return flight to sba everything was normal as I entered a 2 mi base for runway 15R. The tower asked me to widen my base to allow for a jet departure which I did. I touched down on the numbers as I usually do and prepared to turn off at the taxiway just past runway 7/25. As I was rolling out, I noticed a commuter turboprop sitting on the taxiway I planned to use. I applied a small amount of power planning to make the high speed taxiway further down runway 15R. This was in an effort not to block the runway any longer than necessary. The tower called and asked if I would like to make a 180 degree turn on the runway and taxi back. Because of the added speed and my proximity to the high speed taxiway, I asked to continue and exit there. This was approved with the following clearance, 'approved, hold short of runway 15L, stay on this frequency.' by then I was turning and slowing onto the taxiway. For a moment I puzzled about the why of 'stay on this frequency' as I continued to roll toward the parallel taxiway on the opposite side of runway 15L. That momentary distraction for an instant blocked out the first part of the clearance 'hold short of runway 15L.' at that point I realized why the controller had specified 'stay on this frequency' and saw that I was encroaching on runway 15L. I started to hit the brakes but glancing left, I saw a C182 at the end of runway 15L (approximately 1500 ft away) starting to roll. As my plane was already partly on the runway I accelerated across to get out of its way. At that point the tower called and I was asked to call them when I reached my tie-down. I have no excuse for this incident other than a series of minor distrs probably aggravated by an amount of mental exhaustion from the events of the last week. It was a stupid mistake which I freely admit. I have been flying for nearly 34 yrs, 26 of those at sba. In all that time I have never been involved in any form of a violation or incident. Corrective action: other than the obvious error on my part, I believe there is another contributing factor here. The standard runway/taxiway markings are quite visible at night as they are lighted. However, in daylight they tend to blend into the backgnd of asphalt, soil and grass. I think we need a larger brightly colored (red) warning signs such as we see on freeway off-ramps to prevent wrong way drivers. They could say something like 'warning clearance required to enter.'

Title: CE172K LANDED RWY 15, CLRED TO EXIT ON HIGH SPD, HOLD SHORT RWY 15L, REMAIN ON THIS FREQ. WAS DISTR BY REQUEST TO REMAIN ON FREQ AND DID NOT HOLD SHORT. SAW ACFT STARTING TKOF ROLL AND EXPEDITED ACROSS WITHOUT CLRNC.

Narrative: ON THE RETURN FLT TO SBA EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL AS I ENTERED A 2 MI BASE FOR RWY 15R. THE TWR ASKED ME TO WIDEN MY BASE TO ALLOW FOR A JET DEP WHICH I DID. I TOUCHED DOWN ON THE NUMBERS AS I USUALLY DO AND PREPARED TO TURN OFF AT THE TXWY JUST PAST RWY 7/25. AS I WAS ROLLING OUT, I NOTICED A COMMUTER TURBOPROP SITTING ON THE TXWY I PLANNED TO USE. I APPLIED A SMALL AMOUNT OF PWR PLANNING TO MAKE THE HIGH SPD TXWY FURTHER DOWN RWY 15R. THIS WAS IN AN EFFORT NOT TO BLOCK THE RWY ANY LONGER THAN NECESSARY. THE TWR CALLED AND ASKED IF I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A 180 DEG TURN ON THE RWY AND TAXI BACK. BECAUSE OF THE ADDED SPD AND MY PROX TO THE HIGH SPD TXWY, I ASKED TO CONTINUE AND EXIT THERE. THIS WAS APPROVED WITH THE FOLLOWING CLRNC, 'APPROVED, HOLD SHORT OF RWY 15L, STAY ON THIS FREQ.' BY THEN I WAS TURNING AND SLOWING ONTO THE TXWY. FOR A MOMENT I PUZZLED ABOUT THE WHY OF 'STAY ON THIS FREQ' AS I CONTINUED TO ROLL TOWARD THE PARALLEL TXWY ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF RWY 15L. THAT MOMENTARY DISTR FOR AN INSTANT BLOCKED OUT THE FIRST PART OF THE CLRNC 'HOLD SHORT OF RWY 15L.' AT THAT POINT I REALIZED WHY THE CTLR HAD SPECIFIED 'STAY ON THIS FREQ' AND SAW THAT I WAS ENCROACHING ON RWY 15L. I STARTED TO HIT THE BRAKES BUT GLANCING L, I SAW A C182 AT THE END OF RWY 15L (APPROX 1500 FT AWAY) STARTING TO ROLL. AS MY PLANE WAS ALREADY PARTLY ON THE RWY I ACCELERATED ACROSS TO GET OUT OF ITS WAY. AT THAT POINT THE TWR CALLED AND I WAS ASKED TO CALL THEM WHEN I REACHED MY TIE-DOWN. I HAVE NO EXCUSE FOR THIS INCIDENT OTHER THAN A SERIES OF MINOR DISTRS PROBABLY AGGRAVATED BY AN AMOUNT OF MENTAL EXHAUSTION FROM THE EVENTS OF THE LAST WK. THE STANDARD RWY/TXWY MARKINGS ARE QUITE VISIBLE AT NIGHT AS THEY ARE LIGHTED. THEY COULD SAY SOMETHING LIKE 'WARNING CLRNC REQUIRED TO ENTER.'
