Narrative:
At the end of a long day, the PF misinterpreted his HSI heading which I pointed out resulting in confusion and a possible altitude deviation of 400 ft. Contributing factors, excessive xwinds at altitude making the display confusing. Hold problem arose (different heading display on the new HSI's (B757) versus the old HSI's (ie, 737's). Human factors, long day.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN ACR B757 FO RPTS THAT HIS CREW MAY HAVE HAD AN ALTDEV. HE ALSO COMPLAINS ABOUT THE HSI HEADING PRESENTATION OF THE B757 AS COMPARED TO THE B737. THERE MUST ALSO HAVE BEEN A TRACK HEADING DEV WHILE HOLDING.
Narrative: AT THE END OF A LONG DAY, THE PF MISINTERPRETED HIS HSI HEADING WHICH I POINTED OUT RESULTING IN CONFUSION AND A POSSIBLE ALTDEV OF 400 FT. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS, EXCESSIVE XWINDS AT ALT MAKING THE DISPLAY CONFUSING. HOLD PROB AROSE (DIFFERENT HEADING DISPLAY ON THE NEW HSI'S (B757) VERSUS THE OLD HSI'S (IE, 737'S). HUMAN FACTORS, LONG DAY.
