Narrative:
After passing dietz intersection on cedar creek 1 arrival, we failed to maintain 210 KTS. During preparation for the short approach that was advised by a previous controller, slowed to 150 KTS in order to configure, advised by unhappy controller to pick up speed. Normal approach and landing. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter states that he just overlooked the speed restr. However, the controller's instruction, 'expect a short approach,' coupled with this reporting captain's many previous experiences of coming in high and getting dumped, caused him to overreact. The PNF (first officer) didn't notice the speed restr. As a side note, this captain states that he has had more bad experiences at dfw than any other busy airport in this country. The worst was when he was on a visual approach to runway 31R, following a commuter, and had to miss, which forced him to fly his aircraft over the path of traffic departing runway 36.

Title: AN ACR B757 FLC FAILED TO MAKE A XING SPD RESTR ON THE PUBLISHED STAR INTO DFW. THE PREVIOUS CTLR HAD GIVEN INSTRUCTIONS TO EXPECT A SHORT APCH, AND THE FLC FAILED TO NOTE THE PUBLISHED INSTRUCTION AT DIETZ INTXN.
Narrative: AFTER PASSING DIETZ INTXN ON CEDAR CREEK 1 ARR, WE FAILED TO MAINTAIN 210 KTS. DURING PREPARATION FOR THE SHORT APCH THAT WAS ADVISED BY A PREVIOUS CTLR, SLOWED TO 150 KTS IN ORDER TO CONFIGURE, ADVISED BY UNHAPPY CTLR TO PICK UP SPD. NORMAL APCH AND LNDG. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATES THAT HE JUST OVERLOOKED THE SPD RESTR. HOWEVER, THE CTLR'S INSTRUCTION, 'EXPECT A SHORT APCH,' COUPLED WITH THIS RPTING CAPT'S MANY PREVIOUS EXPERIENCES OF COMING IN HIGH AND GETTING DUMPED, CAUSED HIM TO OVERREACT. THE PNF (FO) DIDN'T NOTICE THE SPD RESTR. AS A SIDE NOTE, THIS CAPT STATES THAT HE HAS HAD MORE BAD EXPERIENCES AT DFW THAN ANY OTHER BUSY ARPT IN THIS COUNTRY. THE WORST WAS WHEN HE WAS ON A VISUAL APCH TO RWY 31R, FOLLOWING A COMMUTER, AND HAD TO MISS, WHICH FORCED HIM TO FLY HIS ACFT OVER THE PATH OF TFC DEPARTING RWY 36.
