Narrative:
Wrong frequency of ILS was printed on new commercial plate for runway 26L at ontario international, ca. ATIS was garbled. NOTAM buried with many others (too many inoperative or incorrect airway facilities) and never refers to 'runway 26L' but instead to the identify of the ILS (if read carefully). Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter feels the approach plate should be published before the frequency is changed. He also feels the presentation of the information in the NOTAMS on ATIS is poor. The identifier is used without a reference to the ILS. It does not jump out at you and can be easily missed when buried with about 20 NOTAMS regarding birds in vicinity, txwys closed, etc. He feels this is quite unsafe, especially if there was WX involved. When things go bad one does not need this additional problem.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: WRONG ILS FREQ ON PUBLISHED APCH PLATE. ATIS VERY GARBLED WITH THE CORRECTION AND FLC DID NOT GET CORRECT FREQ.
Narrative: WRONG FREQ OF ILS WAS PRINTED ON NEW COMMERCIAL PLATE FOR RWY 26L AT ONTARIO INTL, CA. ATIS WAS GARBLED. NOTAM BURIED WITH MANY OTHERS (TOO MANY INOP OR INCORRECT AIRWAY FACILITIES) AND NEVER REFERS TO 'RWY 26L' BUT INSTEAD TO THE IDENT OF THE ILS (IF READ CAREFULLY). CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR FEELS THE APCH PLATE SHOULD BE PUBLISHED BEFORE THE FREQ IS CHANGED. HE ALSO FEELS THE PRESENTATION OF THE INFO IN THE NOTAMS ON ATIS IS POOR. THE IDENTIFIER IS USED WITHOUT A REF TO THE ILS. WHEN THINGS GO BAD ONE DOES NOT NEED THIS ADDITIONAL PROB.
