Narrative:
En route from dca to mia over ormond beach VOR, FL390, proceeding along J79 per ATC clearance, ZJX advised us to turn right 30 degrees to intercept J45 to vero beach VOR. This clearance was given after we were already established on J79 on our original clearance. The controller then told us to turn to a heading of 260 degrees to avoid R2935 because the area was hot. This was the first indication of R2935 being hot and no information about the restr area was contained in the information of our flight release. I got the impression from the controller at ZJX that they had been caught off guard about the restr area and were very late in issuing the new routings to avoid the protected airspace. No other corrected clrncs were given.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: B757 IS GIVEN LAST MIN VECTOR TO AVOID THE CAPE CANAVERAL RESTR AREA. FLT HAD BEEN CLRED TO FLY ON J79 WHICH GOES THROUGH R2935. FLC, AND APPARENTLY ATC, HAD NOT BEEN ADVISED THE AREA WAS HOT.
Narrative: ENRTE FROM DCA TO MIA OVER ORMOND BEACH VOR, FL390, PROCEEDING ALONG J79 PER ATC CLRNC, ZJX ADVISED US TO TURN R 30 DEGS TO INTERCEPT J45 TO VERO BEACH VOR. THIS CLRNC WAS GIVEN AFTER WE WERE ALREADY ESTABLISHED ON J79 ON OUR ORIGINAL CLRNC. THE CTLR THEN TOLD US TO TURN TO A HDG OF 260 DEGS TO AVOID R2935 BECAUSE THE AREA WAS HOT. THIS WAS THE FIRST INDICATION OF R2935 BEING HOT AND NO INFO ABOUT THE RESTR AREA WAS CONTAINED IN THE INFO OF OUR FLT RELEASE. I GOT THE IMPRESSION FROM THE CTLR AT ZJX THAT THEY HAD BEEN CAUGHT OFF GUARD ABOUT THE RESTR AREA AND WERE VERY LATE IN ISSUING THE NEW ROUTINGS TO AVOID THE PROTECTED AIRSPACE. NO OTHER CORRECTED CLRNCS WERE GIVEN.
