Narrative:

In sum: DHC6-300 reporter, first officer, missed 2 radio calls as a result of being very upset after being notified of reprimand by his flight manager. He feels very strongly he should not have flown the trip because of his mental state. Situation involved a report of refusal to fly by the dispatcher and failure to advise. Reporter claims he advised dispatch by phone twice he was not available due to death of a friend's father and illness of his wife. Flight manager had called a meeting just prior to the flight and was convinced the reporter was lying and issued the reprimand. Reporter had complained to the FAA previously regarding a dispatcher which resulted in dismissal. Thinks the company is trying to get rid of him.
