Narrative:

The afdps keypack does not have a memory. This creates problems for the controllers which may end up with unusual headings because the machine cannot keep up with the inputs. This requires sometimes 2 or 3 times the amount of entries to correct mistakes that the machine made because it can't keep up. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter said the afdps is a means of coordination between the local controller and departure controller by providing flight plan information to the departure controllers on departures. Reporter stated the keypack has no memory and cannot keep up with the speed of the entered data. Reporter indicated the keypack may miss some of the data and cause an error requiring the flight plan to be reentered resulting in the departure controller not receiving the data in a timely manner. Reporter alleges the departure controller does not know the route or altitude of the departure until the flight plan is received. Reporter alleges that nothing is being done to correct the problem.

Title: RPTR CLAIMS AFDPS KEYPACK HAS NO MEMORY. MACHINE CANNOT KEEP UP WITH CTLR INPUTS. SOMETIMES REQUIRES 2 OR 3 TIMES THE AMOUNT OF ENTRIES TO CORRECT MISTAKES.

Narrative: THE AFDPS KEYPACK DOES NOT HAVE A MEMORY. THIS CREATES PROBS FOR THE CTLRS WHICH MAY END UP WITH UNUSUAL HEADINGS BECAUSE THE MACHINE CANNOT KEEP UP WITH THE INPUTS. THIS REQUIRES SOMETIMES 2 OR 3 TIMES THE AMOUNT OF ENTRIES TO CORRECT MISTAKES THAT THE MACHINE MADE BECAUSE IT CAN'T KEEP UP. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR SAID THE AFDPS IS A MEANS OF COORD BTWN THE LCL CTLR AND DEP CTLR BY PROVIDING FLT PLAN INFO TO THE DEP CTLRS ON DEPS. RPTR STATED THE KEYPACK HAS NO MEMORY AND CANNOT KEEP UP WITH THE SPD OF THE ENTERED DATA. RPTR INDICATED THE KEYPACK MAY MISS SOME OF THE DATA AND CAUSE AN ERROR REQUIRING THE FLT PLAN TO BE REENTERED RESULTING IN THE DEP CTLR NOT RECEIVING THE DATA IN A TIMELY MANNER. RPTR ALLEGES THE DEP CTLR DOES NOT KNOW THE RTE OR ALT OF THE DEP UNTIL THE FLT PLAN IS RECEIVED. RPTR ALLEGES THAT NOTHING IS BEING DONE TO CORRECT THE PROB.
