Narrative:
The following incident occurred on nov/fri/96. Approximately 25 mins after takeoff a flight attendant came to the cockpit and informed me that a passenger had indicated to her that another passenger had a bag with him that had not been properly stowed. She told me that the passenger was sleeping, and the bag was wedged between him and the seat in front of him, and felt she did not have time to stow it before takeoff. I then specifically instructed her to stow the bag either in an overhead bin or a closet or, as a last resort, bring it to the cockpit. When the first flight attendant came to the cockpit I asked her if she was aware of the situation to which she replied no. After landing the passenger who had brought the unstowed bag to the attention of the flight attendant asked to speak to me and told me he was upset that the flight attendant had not stowed the bag.
