Narrative:
I was cleared for the visual approach to santa monica airport. I responded to ATC and changed frequency to what I thought was santa monica tower. I called the tower, told them I was inbound and heard very faintly, cleared for landing. I heard nothing else from that point until I contacted ground control after landing and taxiing off the active. Ground control asked me why I never contacted the tower. I told them that I did and received a clearance to land. They asked me why I didn't respond and I told them I responded to everything I heard. After parking I put in the tower frequency and called the tower. We heard each other 5 X 5. Upon getting ready to takeoff from santa monica I realized that I used the wrong frequency for santa monica tower. I used 118.3 which is santa maria tower. I should have been on 120.1 for the tower. The problem started by copying the arriving frequency from the wrong approach plate. The corrective action is to make sure that I have the correct approach plate to read from on preflight.

Narrative: I WAS CLRED FOR THE VISUAL APCH TO SANTA MONICA ARPT. I RESPONDED TO ATC AND CHANGED FREQ TO WHAT I THOUGHT WAS SANTA MONICA TWR. GND CTL ASKED ME WHY I NEVER CONTACTED THE TWR. I TOLD THEM THAT I DID AND RECEIVED A CLRNC TO LAND. THEY ASKED ME WHY I DIDN'T RESPOND AND I TOLD THEM I RESPONDED TO EVERYTHING I HEARD. AFTER PARKING I PUT IN THE TWR FREQ AND CALLED THE TWR. WE HEARD EACH OTHER 5 X 5. UPON GETTING READY TO TKOF FROM SANTA MONICA I REALIZED THAT I USED THE WRONG FREQ FOR SANTA MONICA TWR. I USED 118.3 WHICH IS SANTA MARIA TWR. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON 120.1 FOR THE TWR. THE PROB STARTED BY COPYING THE ARRIVING FREQ FROM THE WRONG APCH PLATE. THE CORRECTIVE ACTION IS TO MAKE SURE THAT I HAVE THE CORRECT APCH PLATE TO READ FROM ON PREFLT.
