Narrative:
Maintenance installed landing gear pins. First officer missed this fact on walkaround. I did not look closely for them during the checklist. Took off and gear would not retract. Requested 5000 ft as a final altitude and informed ATC of airspeed limit of 170 its. Proceeded to destination without any further incident.

Title: MDT FLT FLEW ORD TO AZO AT REDUCED SPD WITH THE GEAR DOWN BECAUSE THE GEAR PINS WERE OVERLOOKED DURING PREFLT INSPECTION.
Narrative: MAINT INSTALLED LNDG GEAR PINS. FO MISSED THIS FACT ON WALKAROUND. I DID NOT LOOK CLOSELY FOR THEM DURING THE CHKLIST. TOOK OFF AND GEAR WOULD NOT RETRACT. REQUESTED 5000 FT AS A FINAL ALT AND INFORMED ATC OF AIRSPD LIMIT OF 170 ITS. PROCEEDED TO DEST WITHOUT ANY FURTHER INCIDENT.
