Narrative:
While in cruise #2 fire light came on. Retarded thrust lever. Indication went out then came back on. Engine fire- shutdown checklist completed. Continued to st louis (destination). Landed with no further problems. Was continuing to stl in compliance with 121.565. After considering all factors, I made the decision to continue.

Title: FLC OF A B727-200 SHUT DOWN THE #2 ENG DURING HIGH ALT CRUISE DUE A FIRE WARNING THAT WOULD NOT STAY OUT UNTIL THE ENG WAS SHUT DOWN. THE CAPT DECIDED TO CONTINUE TO THEIR ORIGINAL DEST BASED ON THE PROVISION OF FAR 121 PT 565(B).
Narrative: WHILE IN CRUISE #2 FIRE LIGHT CAME ON. RETARDED THRUST LEVER. INDICATION WENT OUT THEN CAME BACK ON. ENG FIRE- SHUTDOWN CHKLIST COMPLETED. CONTINUED TO ST LOUIS (DEST). LANDED WITH NO FURTHER PROBS. WAS CONTINUING TO STL IN COMPLIANCE WITH 121.565. AFTER CONSIDERING ALL FACTORS, I MADE THE DECISION TO CONTINUE.
