Narrative:
Departure and tower thought pilot was in 2 different places at the time pilot was handed off to departure after a VFR missed approach. Tree strike on approach caused pilot to terminate approach. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter states the damage was expensive. He had to demount the wings and rebuild both wings. This was a night approach and he just didn't do it right this time. He has about 100 hours of night experience, but missed this one. The second aircraft was mentioned because the flight crew reported a TCASII alert activated. No sighting of that aircraft by reporter. FAA required 3 hours of ground school and 3 hours of night training. That was the end of the incident.
