Narrative:
Aircraft in ZMA sectors 60 (georgetown) 62 (grand turk) and 63 (tooms) are using radar separation at rinny (G446), thboo (A315) and indee (A555) when targets are dropping off radar. Sometimes this loss lasts for several mins and at all altitudes. Pilots should be warned that radar coverage is limited due to the poor coverage. The radio coverage in this area is also limited as radar at ZMA is using 150 mi radios to cover 225 mi of coverage.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: 3 CTR SECTORS EXPERIENCE TARGET DROPPING FOR AS LONG AS SEVERAL MINS DUE TO POOR RADAR COVERAGE. RPTR CLAIMS RADIO COVERAGE IS ALSO LIMITED IN THIS AREA (2225 MI OF COVERAGE).
